ERIC BECHTER

Corps Director

Eric was the idea, the inspiration, and the driving force that led to the founding of the Rogues Hollow Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in May 2015. As current Corps Director, he continues to be the driving force with a passion and vision to make Rogues Hollow Regiment one of the most entertaining groups to watch, teach with, and perform in.

Eric's passion for music and the marching arts was found while he was a band student at Norton High School in Norton, OH. After graduating in 1994, he continued to follow his passion as he attended the University of Akron. While there, he performed in various ensembles including the marching, jazz, pep, and concert bands.

Shortly after college, Eric had the opportunity to march with and learn from the world famous Empire Statesmen Drum & Bugle corps from Rochester, NY. While a performing member, he closely studied the inner workings of the organization and credits a lot of his values, philosophies, and success to this group.

In 1998, Eric became an instructor with the Chippewa High School marching band, a position he held for 11 years. With the knowledge and wisdom he learned in college and as a member of the Empire Statesmen, Eric used his skills to help grow the program. The group became a consistent state finalist earning both Excellent and Superior ratings at state competition every year he was there. It also became a highly respected "small band" that received many accolades and awards usually achieved by larger groups. These included distinctions such as BOA Regional Class A champion as well as numerous OMEA Grand champions.

Many of Eric's HS students and RHR members have gone on to either perform in or teach with highly respected ensembles. These include many DCI and DCA corps, the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as several Ohio school systems.

Eric is married, has a beautiful daughter, and many cats. He lives in Barberton, Ohio and likes to spend time with his family and friends when he's not with his drum corps family.
